What is Low Cholesterol/Fat Foods Foods?
Fat is a major energy source for the body, but too much fat in the diet can be harmful, because it raises blood cholesterol levels. Cholesterol is a lipidic, waxy steroid found in the cell membranes and transported in the blood plasma of all animals.Found in the lipids (fats) of the blood.  Cholesterol in the body comes from two sources: your body and food. Most cholesterol is made by the liver from various nutrients and especially from saturated fats.Your liver and other cells in your body make about 75 percent of blood cholesterol. The other 25 percent comes from the foods you eat. A high blood cholesterol level increases your risk of coronary artery disease.Reducing dietary cholesterol and fats helps to keep blood cholesterol levels within a healthy range.
We define "Low Cholesterol" as 20 mgs or less cholesterol and 2 grams or less saturated fat per 100 grams of food.
