HCG & Progesterone Levels

Pregnancy can’t occur without a complex interplay of hormones that keep the early embryo from being rejected from the body. This hormone has a lot to contribute towards the health of both you and your baby throughout your pregnancy.Tests of early pregnancy serum progesterone and HCG levels can be used to determine pregnancy outcomes.the lower such levels of the two early indicators, the higher the incidence of adverse pregnancy outcomes.Early pregnancy loss occurs in approximately 10 to 15% of pregnancies and affects one in three women.

HCG Levels
Human chorionic gonadotropin,or hCG is a hormone produced by the placenta after implantation.HCG interacts with the LHCG receptor of the ovary and promotes the maintenance of the corpus luteum during the beginning of pregnancy. Levels of hCG are present throughout pregnancy, the hCG levels will double every 48-72 hours. The level will reach its peak in the first 8-11 weeks of pregnancy and then will decline and level off for the remainder of the pregnancy.
