Botswana, officially the Republic of Botswana, is a landlocked country located in Southern Africa.Botswana has maintained one of the world's highest economic growth rates since independence in 1966.Two major investment services rank Botswana as the best credit risk in Africa. Diamond mining has fueled much of the expansion and currently accounts for more than one-third of GDP and for 70-80% of export earnings. Tourism, financial services, subsistence farming, and cattle raising are other key sectors. The mining industry provides 40% of the country¡¯s revenue and accounts for 20% of the global diamond supply.Botswana¡¯s Orapa mine is the largest diamond mine in the world in terms of value produced annually. Estimated to produce over 11 million carats in 2013, with an average price of $145/carat, the Orapa mine is estimated to produce over $1.6 billion worth of diamonds in 2013.

The Central African Republic is a landlocked country in Middle Africa, located in the area of north Central Africa.Despite its significant mineral and other resources, such as uranium reserves in Bakouma, crude oil in Vakaga, gold, diamonds, lumber and hydropower, as well as arable land, the Central African Republic is one of the poorest countries in the world and is among the ten poorest countries in Africa.In 2010, Central Africa Republic was ranked 14th among the world¡¯s leading producers of rough diamond, by volume, and 12th among the world¡¯s leading producers of rough diamond, by value. The country also produced gold. Subsistence farming was the mainstay of the economy yielding 70% of GDP. The World Trade Organization estimated that the mining sector accounted for about 7% of the gross domestic product; rough diamond and timber were the country's leading export products. Exploitation of gold and diamonds has so far been exclusively done through artisanal mining.
