The Central African Republic is a landlocked country in Middle Africa, located in the area of north Central Africa.Despite its significant mineral and other resources, such as uranium reserves in Bakouma, crude oil in Vakaga, gold, diamonds, lumber and hydropower, as well as arable land, the Central African Republic is one of the poorest countries in the world and is among the ten poorest countries in Africa. In 2010, Central Africa Republic was ranked 14th among the world’s leading producers of rough diamond, by volume, and 12th among the world’s leading producers of rough diamond, by value. The country also produced gold. Subsistence farming was the mainstay of the economy yielding 70% of GDP.
