Most major mines process their gold-bearing ore at the site of the mine, producing low purity "dor¨¦" gold bars. The cast bars have variable weights, sometimes weighing as much as 25 kg, and have few or no markings. They are normally sent to gold refineries for further refining into bars of high purity (99.5% or more).
