Blood Chemistry Test(Blood Chemistry Panels)

Blood chemistry tests are blood tests that measure amounts of certain substances in a sample of blood. These substances include electrolytes, proteins, fats, glucose, and enzymes. Blood chemistry test may also be called chemistry panel.
Analysis of blood chemistry can provide important information about the function of the kidneys,liver, and other organs.They are used to help diagnose and monitor many conditions before, during, and after treatment. Blood chemistry panels measure levels of important electrolytes and other chemicals, including the following.

Electrolytes
An electrolyte panel measures sodium, potassium, chloride, magnesium, phosphate,zinc,copper and bicarbonate.

Liver function tests
Liver function tests used to help diagnose and monitor liver disease or damage. They measure alanine aminotransferase (ALT), aspartate transaminase (AST), alkaline phosphatase (ALP),  bilirubin, albumin and total protein.

Kidney function tests
Kidney function tests also called renal function panel, They measure blood urea nitrogen (BUN) and creatinine.

Basic metabolic panel (BMP)
A basic metabolic panel is a blood test that measures your blood glucose level,kidney function, and electrolyte and acid/base balance.

Comprehensive metabolic panel (CMP)
A comprehensive metabolic panel (CMP) is also called a chemistry panel of Chem-14 including an electrolyte panel and acid/base balance , kidney function tests and liver function tests as well as levels of blood glucose and blood proteins.It gives a healthcare provider important information about the current status of a person's metabolism
